Female celebrities who don’t shave: Getting a bikini wax can be pretty painful. Personal grooming is usually a subject matter that is kept fairly private. Most people do not publically discuss what they like to do with their bodies. It doesn’t matter if you wax your legs or you shave them, how you get to where you end up is not usually a topic for public consumption. And when you are a celebrity, there is even less discussion about how and why you do things.
Everything seems to blow up in celebrities’ faces so you can hardly blame them for not wanting to get too specific on their own grooming habits. It’s one thing to talk about hair styles and what products you use. But when it comes to the nether regions of our bodies, we aren’t exactly at the water cooler discussing what shape we shaved our pubic hair in. And certainly, most people aren’t chattering too much about shaving, waxing or not grooming at all their pubes. When we talk pubic hair, we are talking “bush.” Now, for women, there are varying styles of “bush.” We have landing stripes to help guide confused men down the runway. We also see completely shaved or waxed pubic regions, the kind of awesomeness displayed prominently in Playboy and your favorite porn magazines. It wasn’t always that way. No. We used to have 1970s bush in which it looked like tropical jungles were growing near people’s privates. Certainly, this is a private matter in which everyone is free to choose how they want to groom themselves. Kourtney Kardashian gets annoyed with pubic hair in the same way the public gets annoyed with Kardashian news and headlines. On the show Keeping up with the Kardashians, no subject is off the table. In fact, pushing the envelope with discussions about pubic hair and grooming habits is actively encouraged by producers. Yes…producers, these shows aren’t really reality…for those of you who didn’t know. There are cuts, reshoots…and even dialogue fed to the “actors.” Kardashian confessed to the entire world that she isn’t a fan of shaving and grooming her pubes and has little interest in doing so while pregnant. Naturally, Scott Disick chimed in to describe her growth as “offensive” and grabbed a razor and went to work on Kardashian’s healthy bush. They made a big to-do about her finally getting groome
Lady Gaga is a controversial figure nearly everywhere she goes. The singer has made waves throughout the world with her originality and her desire to speak her mind. So it is no wonder that Gaga was pegged to appear on the cover of the first transversal style magazine, Candy. Gaga appeared on the cover, seductively naked with her pubic region on full display. The winter issue showcased her with her healthy bush front and center. When we think Jenny McCarthy, we think Playboy spreads and a beautiful blonde who exploded on our television and film screens. The model and actress has had quite a career and is known as an absolute beaut. On Oprah, though, McCarthy let on a little more about her personal life. She showed up for one of her Playboy shoots and took off her clothes. She said the crew on set was shocked. McCarthy had her full bush on display for the shoot and described the scene as: “All of a sudden I hear ‘whoa, whoa, whoa.’ And I said, ‘Is there anything on it? What’s wrong?’ They said they never saw anyone as hairy as you in their entire life!” Apparently, the crew had never seen a model come into the shoot with a healthy amount of pubic hair. Lisa Vanderpump-Todd is a woman whose acting career never got going. After appearing in a few small roles, her biggest role would be marrying her husband, Ken Todd (16 years her elder). With Todd, they worked together to establish themselves as big restaurateurs. Then, Vanderpump was able to appear on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and become a reality television star. While on the show, she revealed she is a big fan of the old school bush. Vanderpump claims not to understand Brazilian waxing and states: “I’ve got it down to my knees for God’s sake.” Eesh, being that her husband is 71, he probably doesn’t notice it much at this point anyway
There seems to be no topic that is taboo on daytime talk shows. Where once certain subject matters were required for the evening hours, nowadays you can pretty much talk about anything anytime. Since the film is dated from a long, long time ago, women weren’t shaving their nether regions. So the film producers had a merkin (a fake bush) ready for Lawless. But when Lawless arrived to do the scenes, she made everyone aware that the merkin wouldn’t be necessary. She was full bush. She, in fact, never had to use the merkin to simulate the pubic hair for her starring role.
Solange Knowles is an actress and singer who may be better known as the older sister of Beyonce(yes…the Beyonce). Knowles has made appearances on numerous television shows and movies. Although never a big star, Knowles has been consistent in her workload. Knowles was front-and-center when she attacked her brother-in-law, Jay-Z, at The Standard Highline in Manhattan. The attack was captured on video and went viral. So those who didn’t know who Knowles was, quickly learned. No reason was given for the outburst. And now for the bush. Knowles once tweeted “whoever invented the bikini wax was an evil creature. Who said bushes needed to be gone?” Knowles is a known supporter of the advocate group, Women For Bush (WFB). I sort of made up the last part, but it could exist somewhere. Either way, she is not a fan of shaving. She likes it old school.
Ellen Page exploded onto the scene with her awesome lead role in Juno (2007). The film won her many awards and essentially allowed her to write her own ticket in Hollywood for a time. She also is an X-Menregular. This young superstar appeared on the Conan O’Brien show and related a very interesting bit of information. Page stated: “So my anxiety dreams tend to always relate to, um, pubic hair. So I’ll be like on stage getting ready to act, and I’m just in my underwear and I look down, and it’s just like it might as well be like an old man’s beard or something.” Oh, man, Ellen, you just blew up a ton of highlight reels with that statement! First, she revealed in an interview that she has “a 70s vibe if you know what I mean” in reference to her pubic hair. During another interview, Paltrow revealed that she and gal pal Cameron Diaz have to tag team the issue. Personally, I think permanent laser hair removal sounds like a crazy idea. Also, let’s be honest: just like every other part of your body, your labia major is not immune to gravity. Do you really want a hairless vagina for the rest of your life? … It’s a personal decision, but I’m just putting it out there. Consider leaving your vagina fully dressed, ladies. Twenty years from now, you will still want to be presenting it to someone special, and it would be nice to let him or her unwrap it like the gift that it is.
