You may have secretly enjoyed post-breakup steps like watching The Notebook on repeat while crying into a pint of Ben & Jerry's, but the one step that isn't fun for anyone is figuring out what you're going to do about your ex on social media now that you've split. Do you silently unfriend him? Do you block him? If you're at a loss about what to do, anew Facebook feature is here to make the breakup a little easier - at least, online, anyway.
Facebook is testing out a new feature specifically designed to make the post-breakup phase of your internet life less awkward. Instead of having to unfriend or block your ex (which, let's be real, he'd totally find out about), Facebook will now ask you if you want to see less info about this person. If you accept, Facebook will no longer notify you about things like new profile pictures (which might not include you anymore, or worse, will include a different girl) and will even remove tags on pictures you are both in.
Basically, your Facebook will be poached of your ex without you having to go back through your relationship history and painfully untag all your cute couple photos. It's about freakin' time.
Of course, there is one caveat here: you have to first make your relationship Facebook official in order to make your breakup Facebook official. If you prefer to keep your relationship status off FB, you may have to purge your former bae the old fashioned way. No matter how you get rid of your ex's posts, just remember: breakups suck, but in time, you'll get back to your Beyonce-level fierceness. Trust.
